Bigg Boss Tamil 9: Vijay Sethupathi Red Cards VJ Paaru, Kamaruddin After Sandra Task Controversy

Bigg Boss Tamil host Vijay Sethupathi took swift and decisive action on the reality show after a disturbing video surfaced showing contestant Paru allegedly pushing fellow participant Sandra out of a stationary car during a task.

The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, triggered widespread criticism and renewed questions about safety and aggression on reality television.

Paru And Kamrudin Evicted After ‘Red Card’ Decision

Following the incident, Vijay Sethupathi issued a red card to Paru and Kamrudin, a move that results in their immediate eviction from the Bigg Boss Tamil house. The decision came amid mounting concern from viewers and fellow contestants over the nature of the act, which many felt crossed the line from competitive gameplay into physical harm.

Sandra Taken For Medical Examination

In the circulating clip, Sandra is seen lying motionless on the ground moments after being pushed. Fellow contestants later lifted her and escorted her for medical examination by the in-house doctor. While the visuals alarmed viewers, the video could not be independently verified.

Inside the house, reactions were sharply divided. Several contestants strongly condemned Paru’s actions, while others accused Sandra of exaggerating the impact of the incident. Some housemates appeared visibly shaken by what had unfolded.

Paru Defends Her Actions As ‘Part Of The Game’

Paru defended herself by stating that her behaviour was within the scope of the task. She argued that similar aggressive conduct had been tolerated in earlier instances on the show, and maintained that she had not intended to cause harm.

Channel Responds To Allegations

A source from Star Vijay Television, which broadcasts Bigg Boss Tamil, sought to downplay the incident. Speaking to NDTV, the source said, “There was no violence. It was certainly an aggressive act as part of the show.”

When asked whether Sandra had sustained injuries or filed a formal complaint, the source responded, “No.”

A Show No Stranger To Controversy

Produced by Endemol Shine, Bigg Boss Tamil is currently in its ninth season, with Vijay Sethupathi hosting the show for the second consecutive year after taking over from Kamal Haasan, who led the franchise for seven seasons.

Over the years, the programme has frequently found itself at the centre of controversy. Previous seasons have drawn criticism for alleged misogynistic remarks, extreme psychological pressure on contestants, and, in one instance, an alleged suicide attempt by a participant.

Political And Social Criticism Continues

The show has also faced repeated protests from political and social groups, who accuse it of degrading public values, objectifying participants, and profiting from inappropriate behaviour and intimacy. These allegations have consistently been denied by the makers.

Velmurugan, chief of the Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi, has been among the most vocal critics, leading multiple protests and calling for stricter regulation – or a complete ban – on the programme.
