Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik left everyone surprised with his participation in Bigg Boss 19. Amaal’s participation comes months after he opened up about being depressed.
The music composer had even shared a social media post about his strained relationship with his family. On August 24, the grand premiere of Bigg Boss 19 happened, and Amaal bared his heart out to host Salman Khan. The music composer revealed that he is single.
Amaal Mallik on relationship status, depression
Salman introduced Amaal as the 16th contestant of Bigg Boss 19. The music composer performed on the stage and later interacted with the superstar. When Salman asked Amaal about his personal life, the music composer revealed his relationship status.
“I am single now. Thodi umeed thi pyaar lautega, but vo nahi hua,” he said. Amaal further opened up about his social media post on depression and family that broke the internet. “I recently put up a post, and people wondered why I did that. Even mom and dad felt that,” he said in Hindi.
When Salman asked Amaal what the post was about, he revealed in Hindi, “That I am depressed.”
When Amaal Mallik spoke about his clinical depression
In March 2025, Amaal shared a note on Instagram, blaming his family for distance with brother Armaan Malik. In the same post, he opened up about suffering from clinical depression.
“But today I stand at a point where I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally & maybe financially too but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings. Yes I have only myself to blame for my actions but my self worth has been diminished countless times by actions of near and dear ones that stole pieces of my soul,” he wrote, in now-deleted post.
