Big victory of Yogi government, future of farmers will change with three canal projects. Up Irrigation Revolution Nabard Funds Canal Projects

Irrigation revolution has started in Uttar Pradesh. NABARD has approved Arjun Sahayak, Saryu Canal and Madhya Ganga Project with an amount of Rs 6,431 crore, which will provide great relief to farmers in Bundelkhand, Purvanchal and Western UP.

Yogi government has taken another big step towards taking the irrigation system in Uttar Pradesh to new heights. Big news of relief has come for the three major regions of the state, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal and Western UP, which have been suffering from water shortage, drought and unbalanced irrigation for a long time. NABARD has sanctioned a huge amount of Rs 6,431.34 crore for three important irrigation projects in the state, which will pave the way for solving the agriculture, drinking water and ground water crisis.

Three big projects for three sectors

NABARD has approved three major canal projects in Uttar Pradesh under the Long Term Irrigation Fund Scheme (LTIF) of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Central Government. These include Arjun Sahayak Canal of Bundelkhand, Saryu Canal Project of Purvanchal and Middle Ganga Canal Project (Phase-2) of Western UP. The objective of these projects is not only to increase irrigation capacity, but also to bring sustainable improvements in flood control, drinking water availability and agricultural production.

Bundelkhand will get relief from drought

Arjun Sahayak Project for Bundelkhand region has received approval of Rs 1,353.86 crore. The project covers Mahoba, Hamirpur and Banda districts. Most of the work of this project based on Dhasan river has been completed and now the remaining work will be completed rapidly. After this, the dependence of farmers of the area on rain will reduce and along with crop production, animal husbandry and drinking water system will also improve.

Saryu Canal will change the agricultural map of Purvanchal

Saryu Canal Project for Eastern Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned for Rs 1,899.35 crore. This project will create a new irrigation network in districts like Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur. With the completion of the project, more than 30 lakh farmers of 6,227 villages will benefit and irrigation facilities will be available to about 15 lakh hectares of land. This will also strengthen agricultural production, fisheries and drinking water supply.

Madhya Ganga Phase-2 will bring big changes in Western UP

The second phase of the Middle Ganga Canal Project for Sambhal, Moradabad and Amroha districts of western Uttar Pradesh has been approved for Rs 3,178.04 crore. This project will significantly increase flood control as well as irrigation capacity in the Ganga basin area. This will increase the income of farmers and give new strength to the rural economy of the area.

Strengthening farmers’ income and rural economy

NABARD and state government officials say that the completion of these three projects will bring historic improvement in the irrigation system in Uttar Pradesh. As per the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this initiative will not only increase agricultural production but will also enable the state to deal with the challenges of drinking water crisis, groundwater conservation and climate change. These projects will increase the income of millions of farmers and provide permanent strength to the rural economy.
