Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday that in the last 8-10 months, more than one crore pensioners across the country have submitted their life certificates digitally. Minister of State for Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions Singh said that the Central Government is using technology more and more to provide benefits to the citizens. Speaking at a pension-related event here, he said that earlier, applying for pension was a difficult task with many forms and NOCs. Nowadays, just one form is needed, and everything is online. There has been a lot of rationalization in the last 10-12 years. Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many citizen-centric steps to reduce the problems of retired people.
1.11 crore face recognition done
He stressed that Digital Life Certificate is one of such revolutionary steps. In the last 8-10 months, 1.11 crore face recognitions have been done. It has become a mass movement. The Union Minister claimed that the Modi government has not made any new rules related to pension, but has removed the old and useless rules. He said that those who have seen the Northeast before 2014 can understand the changes that have taken place in this region. People’s thinking has changed and youth have started moving out of this area. Singh said that PM Modi’s biggest contribution is to “mainstream” the Northeast with the rest of India.
Role of pensioners is very important
The Union Minister was speaking at the 58th Pre-Retirement Counseling (PRC) Workshop, Pensioners’ Awareness Program and Bankers’ Awareness Program organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare. Speaking on the occasion, BJP Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia said that the role of pensioners in the society is very important. He said that they retire after giving long service to the society. Many people retire, but they do not get tired. They always want to serve the motherland. Saikia claimed that in the last 10 years, a lot of work has been done to improve the system, especially in matters related to pensioners and their pensions.
