Big update for SBI Credit Card holders, these rules will change from September

If you have a credit card of SBI, then this news is very important for you. State Bank of India has announced a big change in the rules for some of its card holders. These new rules will be applicable from 1 September 2025 and will directly affect those who use certain cards of SBI.

This is not the first time SBI cards have changed their rules. Many changes were also made in July and August 2025. The bank had then closed some of its premium cards such as SBI Elite and SBI Prime Complimentary Air Accident Insurance Cover.

Which cards will be affected?

SBI has said that this change will be applicable to Lifestyle Home Center SBI Card, Lifestyle Home Center SBI Select Card, and Lifestyle Home Center SBI Prime Card. These cards will not get benefits as before. Along with this, there are many such transactions, on which you will no longer be given reward points.

Where will you not get reward points now?

Till now, SBI cards used to get reward points at different expenses, but from September 1, some special categories have been excluded from it. According to the new rules, no reward point will be available on the expenditure incurred on online gaming platforms. Reward points will not be available on government services or any kind of government transactions. Apart from this, reward points will no longer be given on selected merchant transactions. SBI has not yet publicized the entire list of these merchants, but soon customers will be informed about it.

CPP plan will also change

Changes are being made for SBI card users not only in reward points, but also for CPP (Card Protection Plan). From 16 September 2025, all CPP card holders will be automatically shifted to the updated plan variant. This change will happen when your card will be renewed. The bank will inform this 24 hours before the renewal date by SMS or e-mail.
