Jal Jeevan Mission is progressing rapidly in Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain division has achieved the target of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ by providing pure drinking water from tap to more than 7 lakh rural families. Clean drinking water has reduced water-borne diseases and improved the standard of living in rural areas.
Bhopal. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Madhya Pradesh government is working in mission mode to provide pure drinking water from tap to every household. Due to the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and the continuous efforts of the Public Health Engineering Department, Jal Jeevan Mission is reaching new heights.
Ujjain division has achieved a historic achievement by completing the target of ‘Water for every house’. So far, pure drinking water has been provided from tap to 7,09,065 rural families. This scheme is becoming a strong foundation of rural prosperity, self-reliance and happy life.
Water borne diseases reduced by pure drinking water
In the last two years, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has given special priority to women’s health, children’s education and nutrition. The increase in pure drinking water supply in rural areas has brought relief to a large population.
- A clear reduction in waterborne diseases has been recorded.
- There has been positive improvement in rural health standards.
Earlier, village women had to travel long distances to get water, which cost them both time and labour. Now there has been a big change in the lives of women by getting tap water in every courtyard.
They have started getting better opportunities for cleanliness, education and livelihood. This has also strengthened his confidence.
Families benefiting from tap water scheme in the districts of Ujjain division
Safe drinking water has been provided to lakhs of rural families in seven districts of Ujjain division. The beneficiaries of the districts are as follows-
- Agar-Malwa: 42,207 families
- Dewas: 1,65,383 families
- Neemuch: 31,957 families
- Ujjain: 1,71,553 families
- Shajapur: 79,472 families
- Ratlam: 1,49,603 families
- Mandsaur: 68,890 families
The standard of living has improved significantly due to availability of tap water in these districts.
