During the Davos visit, the Madhya Pradesh delegation discussed the expansion of HCL Tech as a Tier-2 tech hub. GCC policies, infrastructure, skilled manpower and investment incentives made the state attractive for tech investments.

Bhopal. On the first day of the Davos visit, the Madhya Pradesh delegation met Mr. Abhay Chaturvedi, Corporate Vice President of HCL Tech, a leading company in the global IT services sector, and had a detailed discussion. In this meeting, the possibilities of developing Madhya Pradesh as a Tier-2 technology hub were discussed.

Presentation of Madhya Pradesh as Tier-2 Tech Hub

During the meeting, Principal Secretary, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh informed about the possibilities of expansion in the state as a Tier-2 technology hub. He said that due to strong policies and continuously improving infrastructure, Madhya Pradesh is emerging rapidly for IT investment.

HCL Tech’s expansion strategy in tier-2 cities

Mr. Abhay Chaturvedi, Corporate Vice President, informed that HCL Tech is now evaluating opportunities to expand its operations beyond traditional IT hubs into Tier-II cities. From this point of view, Madhya Pradesh is being seen as a promising and emerging destination.

Discussion on key needs of HCL Tech

During the discussion the key needs of HCL Tech were considered in detail, which included-

  • Availability of skilled human resources
  • reliable power infrastructure
  • international connectivity

The Madhya Pradesh government underlined the strong position of the state on all these parameters.

GCC policy and investment promotion information

The state government shared information about its Global Capability Center (GCC) policy, competitive cost advantages and availability of ready-to-move-in office space at the meeting. Along with this, a detailed presentation was also given on effective implementation of incentives on lease rental, provisions related to skill development and employment generation, single window clearance, ease of doing business.

Educational institutions and quality of life become strength

It was also informed in the meeting that the presence of prestigious educational institutions like IIT, NIT and IISER in Madhya Pradesh, coupled with the improving quality of life, makes the state attractive for technology based investment.

HCL’s interest in technology centers and ODC

HCL Tech expressed keen interest in assessing the possibilities of setting up Technology Centers and Offshore Development Centers (ODC) in Madhya Pradesh in future.

Joint outreach plan on engagement with migrant community

Joint outreach activities were also discussed between the two sides. This included the possibility of connecting with the expatriate community and reaching out to global technology professionals whose roots are in Madhya Pradesh.

Agreed for further discussion on strategic roadmap

It was agreed to prepare a strategic roadmap for possible expansion in the upcoming phase and further discuss collaborative outreach initiatives. This dialogue reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to establish itself as a preferred destination for next generation technology investment and the GCC.
