Mamata Banerjee has announced that the new cricket stadium to be built in Darjeeling will be named after India’s 2025 Women’s World Cup winner Richa Ghosh. This step will not only honor Richa but will also inspire young players. Richa Ghosh is a resident of Siliguri and has a deep connection with Darjeeling. At the age of just 22, she is an important part of the Indian women’s cricket team. He had shown a very good performance in this World Cup also.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘Richa created history by becoming world champion at the age of just 22. On behalf of West Bengal, we want to honor him, but I want to do more than that. There is 27 acres of land in Darjeeling and I have asked the Mayor to prepare a plan to build a cricket stadium there. It should be named Richa Cricket Stadium, so that people can remember his name and the coming generations can take inspiration from it.

Rewards rained on Richa Ghosh

Wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh was given a grand welcome when she reached her hometown Siliguri on Friday. After this, on 8 November, the West Bengal Government and the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) honored him and gave him a prize in a special program. CAB President Sourav Ganguly gave Rs 34 lakh to Richa on behalf of the association. At the same time, Mamata Banerjee appointed Richa to the rank of DSP and also honored her with Bang Bhushan, the second highest honor of the state. CM Mamta also gave a special gold chain to Richa.
