Big relief for Karisma Kapoor’s children: Delhi HC freezes Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore assets

New Delhi: In a big relief to actress Karisma Kapoor’s children, the Delhi High Court has ordered the assets of businessman Sunjay Kapur to be preserved amid the bitter property dispute. Sunjay Kapoor died last year in London and left behind the inheritance of Rs 30,000 crore. Ever since then, Karisma has been embroiled in a legal battle with his third wife, Priya Sachdeva Kapur.

What did the court say?

On Thursday (April 30), the court said in its order that Sunjay Kapur’s assets “need to be preserved…should not be dissipated”. Delhi HC further granted an interim injunction restraining Priya Kapur from selling the assets of her late husband. The court also restrained the operation of his bank accounts.

The court also observed that the burden lies on Priya Sachdev Kapur to clear doubts surrounding the will. It further noted that Karisma Kapoor’s children have made out a prima facie case, adding that it would amount to an “injustice” if no action is taken and the will is later found to be forged.

However, the court allowed withdrawal of funds to meet financial liabilities toward the children, as mandated by the divorce settlement between Sunjay and Karisma.

Kiaan and Samaira have alleged that Priya Kapur forged a will attributed to Sunjay Kapur and submitted an incomplete disclosure of his assets. Allegedly, the list excludes expensive horses and luxury wristwatches.

Sunjay Kapur death

Sanjay Kapur died at the age of 53 while playing polo in London on June 12, 2025. The cause of his death was initially said to be cardiac arrest. However, there were reports of an anaphylactic shock. In August, British medical authorities confirmed the reason of his death as ventricular hypertrophy and ischemic heart disease. After Sunjay Kapur’s death, his mother alleged a “transnational conspiracy” behind his death. As well as Sunjay Kapur’s sister, Mandira Kapur, has made allegations against Priya Kapur.
