‘One Document, All Updates’ Formula
UIDAI has said that if you have an official document which contains all the necessary details like your name, complete address and your photo, then you will not need to provide separate proofs. This will work like a ‘master document’. That is, if you have a single document which fulfills the conditions of both Proof of Identity and Proof of Address, then you can get your Aadhaar details changed by submitting it only. This will eliminate the hassle of submitting documents and the update process will also be completed quickly.
Name, address… how many times can I change?
UIDAI has provided the facility to update details, but has also set some limitations for this, which every Aadhaar user should be aware of. If you are updating any information related to name, address, mobile number, then it is important to keep these rules in mind:
- Name: The most important thing is that you can change your name in Aadhar card only twice. This rule is very strict, so take utmost care while updating your name.
- Address and Mobile Number: This is the biggest relief. You can change or update your address and your mobile number in your Aadhaar any number of times. There is no upper limit for this.
- Gender: The facility to change the gender recorded in the Aadhaar card is not currently available.
- Date of Birth: This information can also be changed only a limited number of times.
