Nazmul Islam had recently said that if Bangladesh is out of the T20 World Cup 2026, the board will not suffer any financial loss. Only the players will suffer losses because they will not get match fees. He also added that the board already spends heavily on players, and if they do not perform well then why ask for the money back? This statement proved to be extremely insulting to the players and the cricket community. In protest against this, Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh took a big step and announced that if Nazmul Islam does not resign from his post before the BPL match to be held on Thursday (January 15), then the players will not take the field. The effect of this threat was also visible and on January 15, players did not reach the stadium in Chittagong Royals vs Noakhali Express and other matches.

According to reports, bowing to the pressure of the players, BCB has taken major action. The board has removed Nazmul Islam from all responsibilities including the post of Finance Committee Chairman. At present the board has removed him from all activities. Earlier, Nazmul had also called former captain Tamim Iqbal an Indian agent, on which a huge uproar was seen.
