40% more passengers than 2019
Fred Dixon said that compared to the pre-Covid year 2019, the number of passengers going from India to America has increased by about 40 percent. In the year 2025 itself, the number of Indian tourists visiting America has exceeded 20 lakhs, which is the second consecutive year when such a large number has been recorded. He described this as a big proof of the strength of the Indian travel market.
Indian tourists not limited to New York-Florida
According to Dixon, New York, California and Florida are still the favorite destinations of Indian travelers, but now people who visit America again are also exploring the country’s inner cities and new destinations. India has now become a top-10, and in many places, top-5 source market for many American tourist destinations.
2026 a historic year for America’s tourism
Dixon said that the year 2026 will be very special for America’s tourism industry. During this period, there will be big events like FIFA World Cup 2026 (June-July), America’s 250th anniversary, the big anniversary of the historic Route 66, which will attract tourists from all over the world.
Indian tourists are also important in terms of expenditure
He told that Indian tourists are not only high in number but have also become the second largest market for America in terms of expenditure. Indian travelers generally travel for longer periods and prefer quality travel, which is a big benefit to the US tourism industry.

Fred Dixon said that India-US travel will increase further in the coming years. Big events like 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, 2031 Rugby World Cup and 2034 Winter Olympics will also further strengthen this growth.
