The Yogi government has approved a state subsidy of ₹500 crore for the PM Surya Ghar Yojana in the supplementary budget 2025-26. This will promote solar rooftop installation and millions of families will get the benefit of cheap and clean electricity.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give further impetus to the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. ₹500 crore has been approved for state subsidy under this scheme in the supplementary budget 2025-26 presented in the Assembly. From this amount, state subsidy will be made available to the beneficiaries through a quick and simple process.

Beneficiaries will get full benefits of the scheme on time

The aim of the government is to ensure that the common citizens joining the PM Surya Ghar Yojana get the full benefits of the scheme without any delay. Getting state subsidy will provide financial relief to people in installing solar rooftop systems and will increase the incentive to adopt solar energy.

Use of solar energy will get new momentum

This budgetary decision will not only encourage installation of solar plants in the state, but will also accelerate the use of renewable energy. The government believes that this step will help in increasing clean energy as well as reducing electricity costs.

UP leading in implementation of PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Uttar Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in effective implementation of the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Till now, a total of 10,09,567 applications have been received in the state under the scheme. Of these, solar rooftop systems have been successfully installed in 3,14,376 houses.

Lakhs of families got direct benefits

So far 3,17,690 families have benefited through PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This has promoted clean, cheap and sustainable energy in the state and reduced people’s dependence on electricity.

Creation of more than 1,083 MW solar capacity

Under the scheme, so far 1,083.63 MW solar installation capacity has been developed in Uttar Pradesh. For this achievement, a central subsidy of ₹2,188.79 crore has been released by the Central Government.

Joint cooperation of central and state government

The state government has also provided state subsidy of approximately ₹600 crore so far. With the joint efforts of the Central and State Governments, this scheme has been successful in protecting the environment as well as in significantly reducing the electricity expenditure of common citizens.
