Big decision of IndiGo, flight tickets will become expensive from April 2

The country’s leading airline Indigo has decided to increase fuel charges for domestic and international flights on new bookings from April 2. This step has been taken at a time when according to the International Air Transport Association, the prices of aviation fuel (ATF) have increased by more than 130% in a month.

Government approved limited increase

However, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have allowed only a partial increase of up to 25% for domestic flights. Its purpose is to limit the additional burden on passengers.

New fuel charges for domestic flights

According to Indigo, the fuel charge per sector has been fixed on the basis of distance.

  • 0500 km: ₹275
  • 5011000 km: ₹400
  • 10011500 km: ₹600
  • 15012000 km: ₹800
  • More than 2000 km: ₹950

Fees increased on international flights

New fuel charges have also been implemented for international journeys.

  • Up to 500 km (Indian subcontinent): ₹900
  • More than 500 km: ₹2,500
  • Gulf/Middle East: ₹3,000₹5,000
  • South-East Asia/China: ₹3,500₹5,000
  • Africa: ₹5,000
  • Greece and Türkiye: ₹7,500
  • UK and Europe: ₹10,000

Trying to have less impact on passengers

The airline says that despite the huge increase in fuel prices, the entire cost has not been passed on to passengers. The company has tried to keep ticket prices balanced by making limited increases. Overall, air travel will definitely be a bit expensive in the coming days, but both the government and the airlines have tried to minimize its impact on passengers.
