Yogi Adityanath sports announcement: CM Yogi Adityanath gave a big hint at the felicitation ceremony of players in Lucknow. Preparation to increase the amount of Laxman and Rani Lakshmibai award from Rs 3.11 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, message to the players to win medals for the country through discipline and hard work.
Tuesday was a special day for the players in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored international and national level players in the felicitation ceremony organized at Lok Bhavan. During this, he gave appointment letters to the players and also congratulated the medal winners.
The Chief Minister said that there is a big story behind every medal. Victory is not achieved by talent alone, but behind it lies struggle, discipline and the strength to never give up. He told the players that if the goal is big then the hard work will have to be equally big. CM Yogi, while motivating the players, said, “Sports teaches us to fall, get up and win. One who is afraid of falling will never be able to reach victory.”

Preparation to increase Laxman and Rani Lakshmibai awards
During the program the Chief Minister hinted at a big announcement. He said that the time has come to increase the amount of Veeravar Laxman Award and Rani Lakshmibai Award. Currently, players are given Rs 3.11 lakh under these awards. The Chief Minister has directed to send a proposal to the Sports Department that from next year the amount of these awards should be increased to Rs 10 lakh each. This award is given to players who have performed brilliantly at the national and international level.
Society becomes strong only by respecting women.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also mentioned women power in his address. He said that mother power has a special place in Indian culture. He said that festivals like Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri are symbols of the fact that Indian society respects women power. According to CM, the society which promotes respect and self-reliance of women remains strong for a long time.
Youth power is the biggest strength in the 25 crore population of UP.
The Chief Minister said that youth are the biggest strength in the 25 crore population of Uttar Pradesh. About 56 percent of the state’s population is youth, who are playing an important role in the development of the state. He said that in the last 9 years, the state government has given awards and incentives worth more than Rs 200 crore to the players. Besides, traditional games like Kabaddi, Wrestling and Kho-Kho are also being promoted.
New sports culture got a boost
CM Yogi said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, a new sports culture has been promoted in the country. Referring to campaigns like Khelo India and Fit India Movement, he said that these schemes have increased interest in sports among the youth. The state government has also started initiatives like MLA sports competition and rural sports league after 2017.
Sports grounds and open gyms are being built in villages.
The Chief Minister said that now priority is being given to sports grounds and open gyms in villages and panchayats. Apart from this, a plan to build mini stadiums at every development block level is also being implemented. He said that MPs and MLAs can also contribute to the development of sports infrastructure from their funds. Under this, he has built an indoor stadium in Gorakhpur with his own funds.
A big sports university will be built in Meerut
The Chief Minister informed that the Sports University being built in Meerut is almost ready and it will be inaugurated in May-June. He said that in future, sports colleges will be created at every divisional level and they will be developed as centers of excellence for any one sport.
Reward of crores for winning Olympic medal
CM Yogi said that the state government is giving incentives to the players on a large scale. On behalf of the state government, players who won medals in Olympics:
- Gold Medal: Rs 6 crore
- Silver Medal: Rs 4 crore
- Bronze Medal: Rs 2 crore
Apart from this, awards are also given to the winners of Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships. He said that till now more than 500 players have been given appointment letters in government jobs.
The journey from occupation of sports grounds to infrastructure
The Chief Minister said that there was a time when sports were not given much importance in the state. At many places the playing fields were encroached upon and players were not able to get the right platform. But now the situation is changing. Along with increasing the sports budget, the government is also strengthening sports infrastructure and training facilities.

Sports Minister Giriraj Singh Yadav, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and many MLAs and public representatives were present in this felicitation ceremony.
