Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in the meeting of the Urban Development Department that special attention should be paid to the rejuvenation and drainage improvement of slums. Connect smart city schemes with revenue growth and impose strict restrictions on colonies without permission.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a clear message to the officials at the high -level meeting of the Urban Development Department, “The picture of development should be seen on the ground, not just the maps.” He said that cities should be developed in a planned manner, so that basic facilities like cleanliness, drinking water, road and lights can be easily available to every citizen.

Now every facility will be found in slums

The Chief Minister, while giving special emphasis on the rejuvenation of slums, said that it should be given priority to facilities like cleanliness, drinking water supply, drainage, road connectivity, garbage collection and street lights. He directed that the municipal bodies should take responsibility for the development of these settlements, reduce dependence on contractors and monitor regular progress.

Yogi said that adequate community toilets should be built in every slum and the responsibility of their cleanliness should be fixed concretely. He also said that new areas and villages recently connected in municipal bodies should not be deprived of facilities.

Drainage and cleanliness will give new relief to cities

The Chief Minister said that the drainage system of urban areas will have to be modern and empowered so that the problem of waterlogging can be eliminated after heavy rains. He ordered that regular monitoring of drainage reform work should be done at all municipal corporations and municipal levels.

Giving the top priority to cleanliness, the Chief Minister said that regular public awareness campaign should be launched to separate solid and wet waste. He said, “The city will become smart only when they are clean and well -organized.”

Smart city plans will increase development and revenue

The Chief Minister told the officials that smart city projects should be prepared which are helpful in increasing revenue with the overall development of cities. He suggested developing projects such as shopping complex, multilevel parking, restaurant and auditorium on PPP models, so that private investment would increase and the public could get world class facilities.

Illegal colonies will be strictly banned

Yogi Adityanath instructed to stop the colonies and settlements developing without standard and municipal body permission. He said that action will be decided on those who spoil the planned structure of cities.

The Chief Minister said that weekly monitoring of all the schemes of the city development department should be done and negligence will not be tolerated at any level. He warned the officials that “the schemes are for the public interest, so the results should be seen on the ground, not only in the reports.”
