Justice Yashwant Varma, who was serving on the Allahabad High Court in Uttar Pradesh, has resigned from his post. Earlier, he served as a judge of the Delhi High Court from October 2021 to April 2025 before being embroiled in controversy.
Impeachment proceedings were initiated against Justice Yashwant Varma after a large amount of allegedly half-burnt cash was found at his official residence in Delhi on March 14, 2025. In August 2025, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla approved the impeachment motion backed by the signatures of 146 MPs and constituted a three-member inquiry committee, which is currently investigating the matter.
