Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath government, UP has achieved a new achievement in the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme. Sachij received national recognition for its superior performance in claims payment, serious illness treatment and grievance redressal.

Lucknow. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is continuously making new achievements in the field of health services. In the effective implementation of the double engine government’s ambitious scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the state has once again registered its strong presence across the country.

The state has made significant progress on parameters like prompt payment of claims, rising expenditure on treatment of serious diseases and time-bound disposal of complaints. For this excellent performance, State Health Agency SACHIS was honored in the National Grievance Workshop.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana: Life saving shield for the needy

Archana Verma, CEO of State Health Agency Sachij, said that Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is the world’s largest health insurance scheme. Under this, cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year is being provided to the eligible beneficiaries. He said that this scheme is not just a government program but has been implemented as a life-saving security blanket for the poor and needy.

Record increase in claims payment, number of beneficiaries increased

The CEO said that from the current financial year July 2025 till now, about Rs 2200 crore has been paid to the hospitals listed under the Ayushman Scheme in the state. Whereas, in the last financial year 2024–25, this amount was approximately Rs 1300 crore. The almost two-fold increase in claims payments in a single year shows that the implementation of the scheme has improved and more and more needy people are taking advantage of it.

Clear instructions for payment of claims in 30 days

Yogi government has made an additional provision of Rs 1500 crore in the supplementary budget to ensure timely payment to hospitals. There are clear instructions from the Government that accepted claims should be paid within the stipulated time limit of 30 days. Due to this, private and government hospitals do not face financial problems and patients continue to get uninterrupted treatment.

Software and human resources strengthened

The software system has been strengthened by the State Health Agency Sachij to make the payment process more fast and transparent. Additionally, the number of the agency’s core team has been increased, which has significantly reduced the time taken to investigate and approve claims. Both hospitals and patients are getting its direct benefits.

Serious and expensive treatments now within reach of common people

The state has also made great progress in the treatment of serious and high-risk diseases. A total of Rs 894.1 crore was paid for services like cardiology, neurosurgery, oncology, urology and plastic surgery in the financial year 2024–25.

At the same time, till now Rs 1370.2 crore has been paid for these services in the financial year 2025–26. This figure shows that now even poor and middle class people are able to easily access expensive and complex treatment.

Significant increase in cancer treatment

Pooja Yadav, ACEO of Sachij, said that cancer (oncology) services have seen a particularly significant increase. Rs 449.62 crore has been paid for oncology services so far in the financial year 2025–26, compared to Rs 285.43 crore in the same period last year. This is the result of the thinking of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in which special emphasis has been laid on bringing the treatment of serious diseases within the reach of the poor.

UP becomes an example for the country in redressal of complaints

Uttar Pradesh has also set an example for other states in the matter of grievance redressal. From January 2025 till now, 41,582 complaints and requests were received on the online portal under the Ayushman Scheme. Of these, 41,458 complaints have been resolved in a timely and quality manner.
