This incident happened in the 11th over of the innings. Saurashtra batsman Vishwaraj Jadeja played a powerful shot towards deep midwicket on the ball of fast bowler Esakimuthu. Shivam Singh, posted near the boundary, showed amazing agility and ran forward and tried to catch the catch by diving. Although the ball had touched the ground before him, Shivam lost his balance during the dive and his head hit the ground directly. He got hit hard on his temple and he remained lying on the ground for a few moments.
The match stopped for some time. The physio and fellow players of Tamil Nadu immediately came running. Seeing the seriousness of the injury, everyone’s concern increased, but the matter of relief was that Shivam got up on his own after some time and slowly walked out of the field taking the support of his teammates’ shoulders.
