Teams from NIA, Odisha analysing the visuals from the site
Police said Malik, his fiancee Truptimayee Mahal (23), and friend Amiya Mallick (27) were allegedly assembling crude bombs on the rooftop of the house when the explosion occurred. Mahal and Mallick sustained critical injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Teams from the NIA and Odisha Police are analysing the visuals along with other technical evidence gathered from the site. Officials are scrutinising the CCTV footage and collecting other evidence to ascertain the cause of the blast and to examine whether any larger conspiracy was involved.
NIA looking into seriousness of the blast
While the primary probe remains with the Odisha Police, the NIA has intensified an inquiry due to the seriousness of the blast and the suspected terror angle. NIA teams have inspected the scene and collected soil and debris samples for forensic examination. Joint work by central and state agencies indicates that investigators are examining whether the case goes beyond a local crime and involves a larger security concern.
