Last night, a news knocked in the quiet Barkhedi Colony of the capital Bhopal, which shook the entire legal community as well as the common people. An experienced advocate, who had been fighting for justice for years, ended his life by hanging himself in his own house. The suicide note left behind not only exposed his pain, but also exposed the dark truth of cyber fraud with which thousands of people are struggling today.
Senior lawyer devastated by false ‘terrorist funding’ allegation
62-year-old advocate Shivkumar Verma lived in Barkhedi area. In the suicide note, he wrote that some cyber thugs falsely accused him of linking his name with the funding of terrorists of Pahalgam attack. This allegation broke him to the core. He wrote that the fear of being called a traitor and false threats made him so mentally weak that he could no longer bear the stress.
In the note, he also said that he always made justice, honesty and social service his goal, but the false defamation overshadowed his confidence.

The house was empty, took the last step in loneliness
Shivkumar was alone at home at the time of the incident. His son works in Pune, while his wife and daughter had gone to Delhi for treatment. According to the police, during this time he committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. The suicide note recovered from the spot read, “I am giving up my life of my own free will. Someone has linked my name to funding the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack.”
Police have started investigating the case by taking possession of the dead body and suicide note.

In the suicide note, he mentioned the services rendered during the gas tragedy and wrote that he always played honesty towards the society and his profession. He said that the allegations leveled against him were completely false, defamatory and caused mental harassment.
Case of Jahangirabad police station area, preparation to crack down on cyber thugs
Jahangirabad police station has started investigation, calling it a serious matter. Police officials are conducting a technical investigation of the IP addresses and call details to trace the cyber fraudsters who made this false terrorism-related allegation.
The police have appealed to common citizens and advocates to immediately report any suspicious cyber call, threat or false allegation to the police, so that such cases can be prevented.
