New Delhi: Authorities have established a four member Special Investigation Team to examine the sexual assault and extortion involving a Class 11 student that occurred in four separate vehicles, according to officials.
Both arrested
The perpetrator Osali Ali Khan aged 20 assaulted the victim on several occasions while his associate Mohammad Maaz Khan aged 23 who runs a gym recorded the acts and used the footage to extort her. The victim lodged a formal report on February 2, which led to the arrest of both individuals under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act the Freedom of Religion Act and the Information Technology Act.
The team headed by additional commissioner of police Ankita Khatarkar aims to determine whether the suspects pursued other young females and to uncover the initial connection between the victim and the perpetrators.
Confession reveals planned scheme
During questioning on Thursday Maaz admitted that they had devised a plot targeting the girl as stated by deputy commissioner of police Zone 3 Abhinav Chauksey.
“The minor student was raped by accused Osaf Ali Khan for the first time in Khanugaon area in Thar a few weeks ago. Maaz had shot the video from outside using an iPhone. Later, Osaf raped her multiple times in four different luxury cars by blackmailing her with the video. Maaz also sexually harassed her by sending obscene messages. They forced the girl for conversion,” the police said on Friday.
Investigators have obtained explicit communications directed at the victim along with call detail records that verify the suspects presence at the locations of the incidents. The devices employed to capture the footage however were discarded by the accused in Rajasthan.
Police officer faces suspension
A head constable named Gyanendra Divedi stationed at Kohefija police station has been placed on suspension following revelations of his association with Maaz. Reports indicate that Gyanendra received a payment of Rs 50000 for providing assistance to Maaz in connection with the probe.
