Bhopal: A strange case has come to light in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Some Hindu girl students also attended the Iftar party organized in a private college here. After this, supporters of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) reached the college and sprinkled Ganga water in the name of ‘purification’. The incident took place on March 11, when the college had organized an Iftar party for its Muslim students and staff. As soon as the video of Hindu girls attending Iftar went viral, Hindu organizations got enraged and came to protest.
Many organizations demonstrated outside the college. The protesters raised slogans and also recited Hanuman Chalisa. His allegation was that educational institutions were being ‘Islamised’. During this protest, some workers sprinkled Ganga water on the campus. VHP supporters said they did this for ‘purification’. Seeing the increasing tension in the area, the police reached the spot and pacified the people.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad convenor Jitendra Chauhan alleged that there was a ‘hidden agenda’ behind organizing the Iftar party in the college. Chauhan told the media that such programs will not be allowed inside colleges. At the same time, the college management has defended the Iftar party. The management says that festivals of all religions are celebrated in the campus. He told that Holi was also celebrated in the campus a few days ago. According to the college, such events are necessary to maintain religious harmony.
