Rakesh of Mumrejpur village in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh had left the house 26 years ago, and the family had accepted that he would never return now. But on Wednesday, when he met his brothers in his own house ashram in Bharatpur, the whole atmosphere became emotional.
Kargil went missing during war
Rakesh’s brother Munesh Kumar said that the Kargil war was going on in 1999. At that time, a brother of the family, Rajneesh and he himself was serving in the army. In June 1999, Rakesh suddenly left the house without telling. The family thought that he must have gone to avoid studies, but no news was received. Despite the search, he was not found and the family gradually gave up hope.
Hard life and painful accident
Rakesh reached Gujarat after leaving home. He did not get work due to his age and he wandered from place to place. After some time, he got a job in a factory, but about a year ago, his body was burnt 50 percent after coming in contact with chemical. His condition worsened due to lack of treatment. A doctor advised him to stay in a cool place, but he went to Haridwar due to not being able to return home.
Start new life in the ashram
According to Basantlal Gupta, secretary of Apna Ghar Ashram, three months ago, the team of the ashram was rescuing the helpless people in Haridwar, when Rakesh was found on the banks of the Ganges and suffering from wounds. The team brought him to Bharatpur Ashram and admitted him. Constant treatment and care improved his health. He gave information about his village and family during counseling.
Tears spilled when they met family
The rehabilitation team of the ashram contacted Mumrejpur village and informed his brothers. Munesh and Bablu reached Bharatpur on Wednesday. After completing the formalities of identity, he hugged Rakesh and everyone’s eyes were filled. The process of waiting for 26 years, pain and separation finally ended.
