‘Bharat Taxi’ has come to compete with Ola-Uber, know when will the government cabs start?

The Central Government has launched the country’s first cooperative cab service named Bharat Taxi, which will compete with Ola-Uber. In this, the driver will get full profit and will have to pay only membership fees. Its pilot project will start from Delhi in November 2025.

Bharat Taxi Cab Service: The country’s Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had talked about starting a cooperative cab service in the Lok Sabha in March 2025. The central government is now going to implement this scheme on the ground. Under this scheme, the country’s first co-operative taxi service named Bharat Taxi has been launched. This service will directly challenge private cab companies like Ola, Uber, Rapido. Let us tell you that it will be operated with the help of ‘Sahakar Taxi Co-operative Limited’.

Only the taxi driver will get the full profit

The biggest feature of Bharat Taxi is that the entire profit from this platform will go to the taxi driver only. In private cab service, about 25% of the profit goes to the company and the rest goes to the driver. That is, the purpose of this scheme is to give the drivers their full share of their earnings. Apart from this, customers will also be able to get a reliable and transparent cab service.

Drivers will have to pay only membership fees

Under Bharat Taxi Scheme, drivers will have to pay only one membership fee, which can be daily, weekly or monthly. Apart from this, the driver will not be charged any commission on every booking and his entire earning will go into his pocket. This will increase the earnings of drivers.

Drivers of Bharat Taxi will be called ‘Sarathi’

Drivers of Bharat Taxi Cab Service will be known as Sarathi. Let us tell you that Bharat Taxi Cab Service has been jointly prepared for the scheme by the Union Ministry of Cooperation and National e-Governance Division (NeGD). According to the IT Ministry, an MoU has been signed between the National e-Governance Department and Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited.

Know when will Bharat Taxi start?

According to reports, Bharat Taxi Cab will be launched from Delhi in November 2025 as a pilot project. About 650 taxis will be connected to it in the first phase. After this, it will be expanded to some more big cities of the country from December. In the first phase itself, about 5000 charioteers are going to join this service, including women. The government has made preparations to start it in all the big cities of the country by March 2026. At the same time, the target is to take it not only to cities but also to districts and tehsil level by 2030.
