Worship method of Bhadwa Chauth

Take a bath in the morning and clean the house and temple.

Pledge to fast with water in the right hand.

Put a red cloth and install a statue of Ganesha on it.

Anoint God with water and Panchamrit, offer them flowers, fruits, sweets and Durva.

Burn a lamp of ghee and chant the mantra.

Listen to the fasting story and offer it after Aarti.

Open the fast by offering arghya to the moon at night.

Importance of Bhadwa Chauth fast

There is religious belief that by worshiping methodically on this day, disturbances are removed and happiness and prosperity are inhabited. Women especially observe this fast for the attainment of children and the happiness and peace of the family. Cow and calf are also worshiped in some places.

Legend of Bhadwa Chauth

In ancient times, a king named Nal lived happily with his beautiful queen Damayanti. But due to a curse, the kingdom of King Nal was snatched away, the palace was looted and he also separated from his wife. The sad queen met Maharishi Sharabhang while wandering in Damayanti forest. Maharishi advised him to observe the fast of Sankashti Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha and said that by duly worshiping Lord Ganesha, there will be a reunion of husband and wife. Damayanti fasted with full devotion, as a result of which she not only got her husband tap back, but also received the son Ratna. Since then, this fast was considered to be the best way to remove all the sufferings and get special grace of Vighnaharta Ganesha.
