Bhadrapada Amavasya 2025 – Puja Vidhi (Method)
On this day, one should bathe in a holy river, pond, or reservoir, and offer water to the Sun God. Chant the Gayatri Mantra, then worship Lord Shiva. Perform tarpan (ritual water offerings for ancestors) and pray for their salvation. After prayers, donate food and clothes to those in need. Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi on this day is also considered highly auspicious. Married women traditionally worship the Peepal tree on Bhadrapada Amavasya. Special prayers to Lord Shiva on this day are said to strengthen a weak moon in one’s horoscope.
Remedies for Bhadrapada Amavasya
Prepare kheer (a sweet rice pudding) and offer it to Lord Shiva. Set aside a portion in the name of your ancestors. Distribute the offered kheer among the poor, and feed some to animals as an offering for the ancestors. Tie a piece of white sandalwood in a blue thread and wear it.
For resolving family problems, take a ritual bath and wear orange clothes. Worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati together and chant – “Om Gaurishankaraya Namah”. Prepare simple satvik food and donate it.
