Cyber thugs in Bengaluru are committing fraud in the name of house on rent online. They ask for advance money by posting fake advertisements with attractive pictures created by AI. A doctor was cheated of more than Rs 10 thousand. Avoid giving money without seeing the house.

Bengaluru: Cyber thugs are committing fraud with the help of new technology by targeting those looking for houses for rent online in the city. These fraudsters are working to easily trap those looking for luxury houses and flats. In a similar incident, a doctor was defrauded.

Rich people are the target of swindlers!

The fraudsters first post advertisements of luxury flats available for rent on online platforms. In these advertisements, they upload attractive and fake pictures created with AI technology. Such advertisements are appearing on many famous real estate websites like Housing.com and No Broker.

As soon as someone sees these advertisements and shows interest in renting a house and contacts them, understand that he has become a victim of fraud. First, the fraudsters talk sweetly to win trust and then say that they will have to pay advance money to see the house. After this, they gradually extort thousands of rupees on the pretext of ‘visitor pass’, ‘entry charge’, and ‘security processing’.

Later, they give a fake address and ask to come there and see the house. But when people reach that place, there is no rented house or flat there. When they try to contact again, the fraudsters say that the money will be refunded, but more advance is required to process it. After this, they stop picking up the phone and break contact completely.

Doctor cheated of more than Rs 10 thousand in Bengaluru

A doctor in Bengaluru has also become a victim of a similar fraud. A doctor named Soumya was searching for a house to rent online when she got attracted by seeing an advertisement of a luxury flat on Housing.com website. After seeing the attractive pictures he expressed his desire to see the house. On the advice of the swindlers, he first paid Rs 2,000 for ‘Visitor Pass’ and then Rs 7,000 as advance. In this way the thugs gradually took more than Rs 10,000 from him.

When she went to the address given by the thugs, she found out that there was no rented house there. The security guard present there told that many people have come here for similar inquiries and many people have been cheated like this.

case registered

Dr. Soumya has lodged a complaint in this regard at High Grounds Police Station. Police have registered the case and started searching for cyber thugs. The lesson learned from this incident is to never pay money in advance while searching for a house to rent online. Payment should be made only after seeing the house directly. One should be wary of overly attractive pictures and low fare offers.
