The ED has called both of them for questioning on the complaint of working in the advertisement of illegal betting apps and helping in money laundering. Earlier, ED has also questioned many Bollywood stars in this case.
Uthappa has been instructed to appear on the 22nd of this month and Yuvraj Singh to appear for questioning at the Delhi headquarters of ED on 23rd. Earlier, Yuvraj also appeared in front of ED in June. This action of ED against cricketers and Bollywood stars is related to the betting app 1xbet.
Uthappa, who retired from cricket in 2022, worked in 1xbet advertisements. Previously, former Indian players Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina were also called for questioning in the case. Shikhar Dhawan was questioned by ED for eight hours. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been instructed to appear for questioning on 24th of this case. ED also questioned former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty, Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra. Urvashi Rautela was the brand ambassador of 1xbet in India.
