Luxury and speed are about to meet once again as Bentley has dropped a new mysterious teaser of its upcoming Continental Supersports on its office Instagram handle, hinting at the return of one of the brand’s most powerful and exciting models.
The teaser shows the shadowy rear of the ‘Continental’, with Bentley calling it “the return of an iconic name.” What makes this supercar so special? It is not just another luxury coupe, but it could be the most hardcore Bentley yet.
The wait to have a look at this beast won’t be long, as the car is expected to debut before the end of 2025.
What’s New?
Unlike the regular Continental GT models, which use a hybrid system and all-wheel drive, reports suggest that this new Supersports will ditch the hybrid setup and instead, it is expected to feature a 640-horsepower V8 engine sending all the power to the rear wheels only. This is a big deal as it would make the new Supersports the first-ever rear-wheel drive Continental GT.
Supersports Legacy
This isn’t the first time Bentley has used the Supersports badge, in fact the older versions were top-of-the-line, with massive W-12 engines. But now the time has changed, as the new car will stick with the V8, proving that raw power and driving excitement matter more than the engine size.
Why It Matters
Some people may find the idea of a “hardcore Bentley” odd as the brand is popular for luxury. But, let us tell you that the Bentley has a racing past, as it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times in the 1920s and once again in 2003. Plus, special models like the 2014 GT3-R already showed how Bentley can mix luxury with motorsports.
What to Expect
This new Supersports is likely to be lighter, sharper and more thrilling than any Continental before it. With rear-wheel drive and record-breaking power, this beast is all set to be the most powerful rear wheel drive car ever built on its platform, which it shares with the Porsche Panamera.
