Bengaluru Traffic Fines: Motorists Get 50% Discount On Pending E-Challans; Check Dates, Eligibility

Motorists in Karnataka will be able to clear pending traffic e-challans at half the penalty amount after the state government announced a 50 per cent discount on outstanding traffic fines.

The scheme will be available from June 21 to July 10 and covers eligible e-challans issued up to May 2026.

The 50% off announced ahead of the National Lok Adalat scheduled for July 11, is aimed at helping vehicle owners settle long-pending violations while reducing the backlog of unpaid fines across the state.

Under the scheme, motorists can pay only 50 per cent of the prescribed fine amount to settle eligible traffic e-challan cases. Certain transport department penalty cases registered between 1991 and 2022 have also been included in the concession.

Who Is Eligible?

The benefit is available to vehicle owners with pending traffic e-challans issued up to May 2026. It also applies to select transport department cases that remain unresolved.

What Are The Important Dates?

The concession window will remain open for 20 days, from June 21 to July 10. Vehicle owners must clear their pending fines during this period to avail of the 50 per cent discount.

The initiative was proposed by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority as part of efforts to dispose of pending cases before the National Lok Adalat.

According to official figures, more than ₹2,827 crore worth of traffic and transport-related fines remain unpaid across Karnataka. The government expects the scheme to encourage motorists to settle pending dues and reduce the burden of unresolved cases.

A similar discount was offered in November and December 2025 which saw a strong response. During the drive, over 77.4 lakh traffic violation cases were settled, generating nearly ₹201 crore in revenue. Additionally, 902 transport department cases were resolved, resulting in collections of around ₹29.66 lakh.

With the latest concession set to come into effect on June 21, motorists with pending e-challans have another opportunity to clear their dues at a reduced cost.
