Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: In a major update for the commuters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Namma Metro’s elevated section of the Pink Line on November 13, providing a significant boost to the regional connectivity.
While providing details, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya informed that the prime minister would travel between Tavarekere and IIMB-Bilekahalli stations before launching the services. The corridor will connect some key regions of the city and will reduce the travel time and traffic congestion.
Elevated Section Details
The elevated section will connect Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere and will take the total distance covered by the Bengaluru metro to 103.6 kilometers, the country’s second just after Delhi. As per the reports, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is considering operating around five metro trains on the route. While the peak hour frequency on this line could be six minutes, the non-peak hour frequency is expected to be 10 minutes.
The metro will pass through seven stations on this route- Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda, and Tavarekere. The service is expected to benefit the commuters working around several regions, including Hulimavu, JP Nagar, and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). It will also provide convenience to the daily commuters travelling along Bannerghatta Road.
What About Remaining Section?
While the elevated section on the Pink Line will be inaugurated on November 13, the operation on the full section is expected in 2027. The entire corridor will connect Kalena Agrahara with Nagawara and will significantly improve connectivity between the northern and southern parts of the city. As per the reports, while the trial runs on the underground section could begin this month, it will be opened for public use by May 2027.
The complete corridor will have a total of 18 stations and will boost the connectivity between the residential and IT corridors, providing convenience to the working professionals.
