In Bengaluru, a man named Pandu burnt his girlfriend and her family over a scooter dispute. The girlfriend’s mother died in this incident, while two others were injured. The police have arrested the accused.
Bengaluru: The sensational case of a man burning his girlfriend and her parents alive by dousing them with petrol has taken a tragic turn. Manjamma, the mother of the badly burnt girlfriend, has died. He was undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital, but died on March 11. At the same time, the treatment of seriously injured girlfriend Sumalatha and her father is still going on. This entire incident took place in Soladevanahalli police station area. The police have taken the accused auto driver Pandu alias Chandu into custody.
What is the whole matter?
According to the police, the accused Pandurang alias Chandu (32) is a resident of Mahalaxmi Layout. On the afternoon of March 6, he had reached Tarabanahalli, the house of his girlfriend Sumalatha (27). There he sprinkled petrol on Sumalata, her father Shriram (48) and mother Manjula (43) and set them on fire. Sumalata’s mother Manjula has now died in this incident.
Police said that Pandurang drives an auto. Whereas, Sumalatha worked in Metro and was living separately from her first husband for the last four years due to family reasons. About three years ago, Sumalatha was introduced to Pandurang through Instagram. Soon both of them fell in love. Both of them got married a few months ago. Before marriage, they were also in a live-in relationship in a rented house in Mahalaxmi Layout. But recently, fights started taking place between the two on domestic matters. Fed up with this, Sumalata had left Pandu a few days ago and gone to her maternal home in Tarabanahalli.
There was a fight over the scooter
On March 6, accused Pandu reached Sumalatha’s maternal house. He asked for his scooter given to Sumalata back. When the girlfriend and her family refused to give the scooter, an altercation started between the two. The situation escalated to such an extent that in anger, Pandu brought petrol, sprinkled it on Sumalatha and her parents and set them on fire. People nearby immediately saved all three and admitted them to Victoria Hospital, where mother Manjula died during treatment.
The marriage took place after live-in
According to the information, Pandurang and Sumalatha were earlier living in a live-in relationship and got married only last year. But Sumalata had recently come to know that Pandu was having an affair with another girl also. For this reason, she had separated from Pandu about two months ago. It is also being told that accused Pandu also has two children from his first wife.
