Bengaluru Class 7 Boy Dies By Suicide; Police Probe Link To ‘Death Note’ Web Series

Bengaluru: A tragic incident has shaken Bengaluru, where a Class 7 student died by suicide in the CK Acchukattu area on the night of August 3. Initial police findings point towards a possible connection with the popular Japanese web series Death Note.

According to News18, the investigation revealed that the young boy was a devoted fan of the series and had even sketched one of its characters in his room. This discovery has prompted authorities to explore whether the show’s storyline may have played a role in influencing his decision.

The boy’s parents told police that he was not facing any known issues at school or home. The exact reason for his extreme step is still unclear. Officers have seized his mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination to gather more clues.

For those unfamiliar, Death Note follows the story of a high school student who stumbles upon a mysterious notebook the “Death Note” which grants its user the supernatural power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. The plot revolves around his mission to eliminate those he deems immoral in an attempt to create a crime-free society, while a dedicated Japanese police task force races to stop him.

According to the Delhi Police, the child was heavily addicted to mobile games. A preliminary check of his device revealed that on the day of the incident July 31, he had spent nearly 10–11 hours on his phone, including seven hours playing games and around four hours on YouTube.
