Bengal Weather Update: According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to hit multiple South Bengal and a few North Bengal districts on Monday.
Kolkata is expected to see thunderstorm activity accompanied by moderate rain throughout the week. The maximum temperature in Kolkata on Monday will stay around 29 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius. The weather department has also advised the fishermen to not venture out in the sea.
South Bengal Weather Alert
As per the weather body, light to moderate rain is expected in all South Bengal districts on Monday. Heavy rain accompanied by storms with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour is likely to occur in Murshidabad. Meanwhile, more violent storms may occur in North and South 24 Parganas. A yellow alert has been issued in all the southern districts on Monday in view of the storms. Warnings have been issued for storms in all the southern districts on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. An orange alert for heavy rain in West Midnapore and Jhargram on Wednesday. Heavy rain is also likely in Howrah, Hooghly, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura. The storms in the districts of South Bengal will continue till next Sunday.
North Bengal Weather Alert
Light to moderate rain will occur in eight districts of North Bengal over the week. Heavy rain is likely in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar on Monday. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in Alipurduar. A yellow warning has been issued for storms and rain in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday. Heavy rain may occur in Darjeeling, Kalimpong on Wednesday.
