New Delhi: The West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 concluded on April 29. After the polling ended on 6 pm, several organisations came up with their exit poll predictions, but the silence of Axis-My India, one of the leading polling agencies in the country who shot to fame with its accurate prediction in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, have surprised many.
The founder of the organisation, Pradeep Gupta, said on Wednesday that they are not releasing exit poll predictions because the voters chose to stay silent on who they voted for. While speaking with NDTV, Gupta said, “See, the method of Axis My India is talking to people face to face. And when we tried to talk after the first phase, about 60-70 per cent of the people had their lips sealed. They were not even ready to say yes or no.”
He further said, “No one is ready to talk to anyone in the context of elections. So, as long as our sample is not representative, on the basis of a 20-30 per cent sample, we do not believe it is right to predict any number. For that, we will try once again Thursday. Maybe now that the elections have been held, people will be more relaxed.” It has been reported that Axis My India would not release the projections of the Bengal elections.
Meanwhile, P-Marq has predicted that the BJP will get 150 to 175 seats in Bengal while TMC will around 118-138 seats, while others will get 2-6. The JVC has forecasted that the BJP will win 138-159 seats, while TMC will secure 131-152 seats. As per the People’s Insight, the BJP will win 144-154 seats and 138-150 seats will go to TMC. On the other hand, the People’s Pulse predicted that TMC will secure 177-187 seats, while BJP may get 95-110 seats.
