Bengal BJP minority cell leader found hanging with hands tied, party cries murder

The body of a BJP minority cell leader was found hanging with his hands tied in West Bengal on Saturday, with his family and the party calling it a planned political murder. The deceased, identified as Sheikh Bakibullah, was the president of the BJP’s minority wing in Hooghly district’s Goghat.

The incident occurred in the Sanbandi area of Goghat. At 7 am, family members found Bakibullah’s body hanging from the balcony of his house. Both his hands were tied with a rope.

The family members of the BJP minority cell leader and party leaders have ruled out it to be a case of suicide, calling it a planned political murder. They claimed that Bakibullah was killed and then hung to make it appear as a suicide.

As panic spread in the area, police reached the scene. However, the police faced stiff resistance from protesting locals while trying to recover the body.

The situation was brought under control only after senior BJP leaders arrived at the location. The police then retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem.

BJP CALLS IT POLITICAL MURDER, BLAMES TMC

Bakibullah’s family and the BJP leadership have demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. The police have initiated a formal inquiry, saying all angles, including political motive, would be examined.

The incident invited a sharp attack from the BJP, which slammed the ruling Mamata Banerjee-led government for allegedly “targeting and silencing” political opponents.

“Shameful state of democracy in Bengal! How many more lives will it take before the lawlessness in Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal to be called out. No democracy under TMC in Bengal continues. This is not an isolated incident – it is part of a pattern… political opponents are targeted, silenced, and killed,” BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said.

The incident comes as political killings have once again dominated headlines ahead of next year’s elections in Bengal.

In May, a Trinamool Congress worker and a BJP worker were murdered in separate incidents in Malda and Murshidabad districts. In Malda, TMC’s Subal Ghosh was hacked to death allegedly by BJP supporters.
