New Delhi. Before Diwali, there was heavy traffic jam in many areas of Delhi-NCR on Friday evening. During this period, long queues of cars were seen at many big intersections of the city. People were stuck in traffic jam for hours in Delhi’s Moolchand Flyover, Chanakyapuri, Teen Murti Lane and ITO. Amidst the preparations for Dhanteras on October 18 and Diwali on October 20, there is a jam situation in the major markets and main roads of the capital, due to which the passengers are troubled. Many videos of traffic jam in Delhi have also surfaced, in which vehicles are seen crawling at the speed of a turtle. Heavy crowd is being seen at IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram and also on the road connecting Delhi and Gurugram during peak hours.
Delhi Traffic Police issued advisory before Diwali
In view of the increasing traffic pressure, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory, appealing to people to avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours. Delhi Traffic Police on Friday reported traffic jam at Bhera Enclave Chowk and Mathura Road from Badarpur towards Ashram Chowk. Officials said traffic has slowed down due to ongoing road repair work and damage at several major intersections, asking commuters to use alternative routes.
