Patna: The Bihar government has given a big gift for state employees and pensioners before Diwali and Chhath. Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary announced on Friday that the state government has decided to increase the dearness allowance/relief rate from 55% to 58%. This new rate will be effective from July 1, 2025.

Relief of Bihar government according to the center rate

Emperor Chaudhary said that the central government had recently increased the dearness allowance of central employees. After this, the Bihar government decided to give equal relief to its employees, pensioners and family pensioners. He said, “Earlier, from January 1, 2025, 55% dearness allowance was being given, now it has been reduced to 58% so that the living of millions of employees and pensioners is not affected by inflation.” This decision will bring an additional financial burden of Rs 917.78 crore to the state government in 2025-26.

Nitish government’s purpose and priority

The deputy CM said that the NDA government led by Nitish Kumar gives top priority to the interests of employees and pensioners. He said that a total of 129 agendas were approved in the state cabinet meeting and the increase of this dearness allowance was also approved. Emperor Chaudhary said, “It is our endeavor that every employee and pensioner of the state should get timely relief. This big gift will support his life on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Chhath.”

Assembly elections are due in Bihar by the end of this year. Before the election, the state government is constantly making relief and welfare schemes for employees and pensioners. This increase is also being seen as sending positive messages to the public in the electoral atmosphere.
