After winning the T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian cricket team is going to be honored soon. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India won the T20 trophy for a record third time. However, after winning the World Cup this time, Team India did not get a chance to be a part of the ‘Victory Parade’ like the previous title. But BCCI is going to compensate for this in its annual honor ceremony, where the team will be honoured. Along with this, other stars of Indian cricket will also be given awards and the biggest award this time is going to be given to captain Shubman Gill. Test and ODI captain Gill will be honored with the ‘Cricketer of the Year Award’ for the last year.
‘Naman’ Awards will be organized by BCCI in New Delhi on Sunday 15th March, which are given every year by the Board to players, former players, coaches and umpires in different categories. In this, the best performers of the last year are honoured. This time this honor will be given to those who show strong performance in 2025, in which the team’s star batsman Shubman Gill and former coach Rahul Dravid will be honoured.
Gill best cricketer of the year
According to a report in the Indian Express, star batsman Shubman Gill, who was appointed captain of Team India in Test and ODI last year, will be given the Best Cricketer of the Year award. This award will be given to Gill mainly for his memorable performance in Test cricket. As soon as he became the captain, Gill scored a record 754 runs with the help of 4 centuries in his very first series on the England tour. Apart from this, he also contributed to India’s title win in the Champions Trophy last year, where he also scored a century with his bat. Although last year was not good for him in T20 format, but in all three formats he scored a total of 1764 runs in 42 innings at an average of 49, which includes 7 centuries and 3 half-centuries.
Dravid will also get big honor
Whereas the great batsman Rahul Dravid, former captain and coach of the Indian team, will be given the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Dravid, the second highest run scorer for India in Test cricket, will be given this honor for his achievements and contribution as a player and as a coach. It was under Dravid’s coaching that India ended the 11-year long wait by winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. Apart from this, India also won the 2018 Under-19 World Cup under his coaching. Ayush Mhatre, captain of the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup, will also be honoured. But he will be given this award for the best domestic all-rounder in the last season.
