BCCI approves big pay hike for domestic women cricketers, match officials

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to double the match fees of women cricketers and officials in domestic cricket in order to create a more equitable pay structure across the circuit.

The Board’s apex council approved substantial hike that is being viewed as a direct consequence of the country’s Women’s ODI World Cup triumph recently.

Senior women cricketers in domestic tournaments will get Rs 50,000 per day from here on, a massive jump from Rs 20,000 (Rs 10,000 for reserves) per match day.

Players in the first XI will pocket Rs 50,000 per day for senior women’s domestic one-day tournaments and multi-day competitions, while those in reserves will get Rs 25,000 per day.

First XI players of teams in national T20 tournaments will receive Rs 25,000 per match day, with reserves getting Rs 12,500.
Any domestic women cricketer featuring across all formats during a full season earn from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.

More moolah for match officials

Remuneration for junior women cricketers was also increased, with players in the U-23 and U-19 categories earning Rs 25,000 per day, with reserves getting Rs 12,500.

The revised fee structure will also benefit match officials, including umpires and match referees, who would get Rs 40,000 per day for league matches in domestic tournaments.

The per-day fee will be between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 for knockout matches, depending on importance of the game and operational requirements.

This hike ensures umpires officiating in Ranji Trophy league matches will get around Rs 1.60 lakh per game, while knockout fixtures will fetch them between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh per match.

This revision in pay structure will not only strengthen overall domestic ecosystem but offer greater financial security and motivation to women cricketers and domestic match officials, BCCI believes.
