The 15th season of Australia’s T20 league Big Bash League (BBL) has started with a bang. In the first match of the season, the teams of Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers came face to face. The biggest discussion of this match was about Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam entering the Big Bash for the first time. Babar, seen in Sydney Sixers jersey, has been associated with the team for the entire season, and his fans were eagerly waiting for this moment. However, this debut was very bad.
Babar Azam flopped in his debut match
The weather created havoc right at the beginning of the match. The toss was delayed due to rain and lightning, and then the game was reduced to 11 overs each. Perth Scorchers won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which Sydney Sixers’ innings started. The team did not have a good start, when they lost the first wicket without scoring any runs. After this Babar Azam came to the crease, but his innings did not last long.
Babar faced only 5 balls and was out after adding just 2 runs. Luck favored him twice during his innings, when his mistimed shots bounced in the air but could not reach the fielders. He survived on both the occasions, but got caught while trying to play a big shot on the fifth ball of the innings. He could stay at the crease for only 11 minutes, which was disappointing for his fans. This debut of Babar did not live up to the expectations, but his fans will expect a big innings from him in the upcoming match.
