Sunny Deol’s upcoming film, Batwara 1947, has been creating a solid buzz among the masses since its announcement. The partition drama, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, is releasing on August 14, 2026, in theatres. According to a latest report, Batwara 1947 has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) just three weeks before its release. It has to be noted that Batwara 1947 has been cleared by the censor board without any cuts. After the certification, the Sunny Deol starrer will have a smooth theatrical release a day before Independence Day 2026.
Batwara 1947 Gets Clearance With Zero Cuts
According to the ANI report, the CBFC granted a certificate to makers recently without any cuts. The examining committee didn’t find any issue with the final product of the film. Batwara 1947 is expected to get a solid response from the masses as Sunny Deol is bringing yet another partition drama after Gadar 2.

Batwara 1947 is reportedly based on acclaimed playwright Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. It is set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. It depicts the aftermath of the post-Partition riots and the deep emotional turmoil.
Batwara 1947 has powerful cast members like Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles. The film also has Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur and Parminder Singh Kanth in key roles. The Partition drama has music composed by AR Rahman, and the lyrics of the songs have been composed by Javed Akhtar. Santosh Sivan has done the cinematography of the film.
