Battle for Bihar: First phase of voting today

Bihar elections 2025: Bihar is all set for the first phase of its assembly elections on Thursday, when 3.75 crore citizens will cast their votes to elect representatives in 121 constituencies across 18 districts. A total of 1,314 candidates are in the fray.

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the BJP, JD(U) and its partners, is counting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s track record of governance. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan, comprising the RJD, Congress and Left parties, is banking on Tejashwi Yadav’s energy and his economic vision to attract voters.

Polling will be conducted at 45,341 stations, with a majority (36,733) of stations situated in rural regions. As per the Election Commission, 10.72 lakh people have been added as new voters this time, while 7.38 lakh are in the 18–19 age group.

The second phase of polling will be held on November 11 and the Bihar elections 2025 results will be declared on November 14.
