The rich pipeline of T20 batter saw another as Amit Passi made a name for himself on his maiden outing as a professional cricketer while playing for Baroda against Services in the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.
Passi got his chance as the team’s wicket-keeper batter after Jitesh Sharma left the camp to join the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa. He opened the batting on his debut in T20 cricket and made the most of his chance.
The 26-year-old made a knock of 114 runs in just 55 balls as Baroda posted a huge total of 220 on the way to a 13-run victory.
Amit Passi Creates History
Passi became just the 10th player since the inception of T20 cricket in 2003 to score a century on debut. Infact, the Baroda star equalled the world record of Pakistan star Bilal Asif for the most runs in an innings on a player’s maiden match in the shortest format.
Asif played five Tests and three ODIs in international cricket and set the record 10 years ago. Previously, the record belonged to Pakistan cricket legend Moin Khan. Passi has gone past Khan for the highest individual score on T20 debut by a wicket-keeper batter. Serbia’s Leslie Dunbar is the only other glovesman to hit a three-figure score with the bat on their debut T20 appeareance.
