New Delhi: Bangladesh started off their campaign in a dominant fashion after thrashing Pakistan by seven wickets in their ICC Women’s World Cup opening match in Colombo on Thursday. Chasing a paltry target of 130 runs, Bangladesh (131/3) completed it with ease in just 31.1 overs.
Opener Rubya Haider top-scored for the side with an unbeaten 54 off 77 balls while Sobhana Mostary remained not out on 24. Nigar Sultana also contributed in the easy chase with 23 runs while rest of the two batters could not show up much courage. For Pakistan,Fatima Sana, Diana Baig and Rameen Shamim all picked a wicket each but it wasn’t enough to defend their small total which they made in the first innings.

Pakistan suffer batting collapse
Earlier, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse with Rameen Shamim top-scoring with 23 off 39 balls while Fatima Sana contributed 22 off 33 balls. For Bangladesh, Shorna Akter took three wickets while Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter got two wickets apiece as the side rocked the batting line-up from top to bottom.
At one end, Pakistan team never seemed to be in the game either while batting or defending the score in the second innings and on the other end, Bangladesh looked pumped up and charged for the battle in the both the innings of the ODI encounter.
