Bangladesh Violence Latest Updates: Violence suddenly broke out in Bangladesh after the death of fundamentalist leader Sharif Usman Hadi in Singapore late on Thursday night. Hadi’s body was brought to Dhaka from Singapore on Friday, December 19, where it will be laid to rest after Namaz-e-Janaza at South Plaza near Parliament House at 2.30 pm on Saturday.
Demand to build a memorial in honor of Hadi
Usman Hadi’s family has demanded that a memorial be built in his honor in Shahbag. This is the same place where in 2024 he had started the movement to remove Sheikh Hasina’s government from power. Let us tell you that Hadi was shot by an unknown assailant during election campaigning in Dhaka on 12 December. After this, he was taken to Singapore for better treatment, where he died late on the night of 18 December.
Bangladesh smolders after Hadi’s death

One Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, was beaten to death by the mob and his body was stripped, hanged from a tree and burnt. It is believed that the crowd may turn violent during the Namaz-e-Janaza of Osman Hadi. For this there will be tight security in the entire area. Also, to participate in this, the government has issued an advisory, in which people have been appealed not to bring heavy bags or luggage.
Stones pelted at Indian Embassy
On Friday, people protested fiercely near the Indian Embassy in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, when security forces stopped a mob trying to storm the Assistant High Commission in Chittagong. During this, the protesters tried to damage the embassy by throwing stones at it. However, all Indian diplomats and officials are safe. 4 people including 2 policemen were injured during the violence.
National mourning on Hadi’s death on Saturday
The interim government of Bangladesh has declared national mourning on Saturday 20 December over the death of Osman Hadi. On Hadi’s death, Mohammad Yunus said, Sharif Usman Hadi, the fearless frontline fighter of the July Uprising and spokesperson of Inquilab Manch, is no longer among us. I appeal to all citizens to maintain patience and restraint. The culprits will be given the harshest punishment.
