Originally set to take place at 5:30 AM Indian time at the Kurogi Sports Park, this quarter-final clash had drawn significant attention from cricket fans across Asia. Unfortunately, persistent rain left the outfield unplayable, preventing even the toss from occurring.
Umpires waited for conditions to improve. However, after a prolonged delay, they decided to abandon the match, ultimately splitting the points between the two teams.
This cancellation is a setback for Bangladesh, which is considered the stronger team compared to China. Had the match proceeded, Bangladesh would have likely been favored to win. Instead, sharing a point with China may hinder Bangladesh’s chances in the tournament.
The Bangladesh women’s team includes players such as Dilara Akhter, Jueria Firdaus, and Nigar Sultana, while the Chinese squad features Zheng Lili and captain Hang Zhuo.
