Bajaj takes Pulsar NS400Z to Spain, expands global reach

New Delhi: Bajaj Auto has taken its Pulsar NS400Z outside India, launching the bike in Spain in its full production form. This comes at a time when the company is also working on a new range of smaller-capacity motorcycles based on its existing 400cc platform for the Indian market.

The NS400Z is already on sale in India, where it gained attention for offering strong performance at a relatively low price. Now, with its entry into Spain, Bajaj seems to be following a similar approach, offering a bigger engine motorcycle at a price that competes with smaller bikes.

Engine and performance differences

The Spain-spec Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z uses the same 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is derived from KTM. It produces 40hp and 35Nm of torque, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

However, there is a small difference when compared to the India-spec version. The Indian model recently received a slight boost of 3hp through a more aggressive Sport mode. This update is not present in the Spain version, which means it makes slightly less power on paper.

Tyres, pricing and positioning

There are also a few changes in terms of hardware. The Spain version runs on MRF Zapper tyres with a 140-section rear tyre. In comparison, the updated India-spec model comes with Apollo Alpha H1 tyres and a wider 150-section rear tyre.

In terms of pricing, Bajaj has kept the NS400Z competitive in Spain. It is priced at EUR 4,499 (around Rs 4.83 lakh). This puts it below some 125cc motorcycles in that market. For example, the KTM 125 Duke is priced at EUR 5,299 (around Rs 5.69 lakh), despite having a smaller engine.

In India, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is currently priced at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
