When and how did the tradition of Baisakhi start?
According to Sikh history, on 13 April 1699, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, established the Khalsa Panth on the holy land of Anandpur Sahib. It is believed that Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji sprinkled nectar on the ‘Panj Pyaras’ and established this sect. He eliminated the discrimination of high and low and gave the title of Singh and Kaur to the people. It is said that only then this day started being celebrated as the birthday of the Sikh community.
